Jeeps can be pretty nifty right off of the assembly line – but no one wants to be the one bottomed out and left teetering on something that everyone before you cleared with no issues… while everyone behind you is wanting you to get out of their way.
Enter the lift kit. There’s plenty of YouTube Certified buddies around that will lift you up, and finagle around whatever is necessary to keep the driveshaft angle reasonable. Then, on to bigger and better adventures…. right?
Not in the case of this CJ5. The axle was rotated for the lift and driveline angle, so when the owner was ready for a rear disc brake swap kit to be installed – it wasn’t going to work. Enter Wrench Blister’s Joey Harris – he took the measurements down, got the plates re-drilled to bring the calipers up and away from the leaf springs. THEN, on to bigger and better adventures – but not before it was re-geared to 4.10s of course!
